Her name Skandamata indicates Skanda means Lord Kartikeya Mata means mother Hence Skandamata means mother of Lord Kartikeya. This means that Maa Skandamata is the mother form of Goddess Durga and she is very kind and caring. Maa Skandamata is worshipped as the mother of supremely talented child called Kartikeya .
