DAY 3 of NAVARATRI 2021:- Chandraghanta Devi

 DAY 3 of NAVARATRI 2021:-

Chandraghanta
Devi is the third aspect of the Hindu goddess Durga and is the third Navadurga. Chandraghanta means one who has half-moon shaped like a bell. She is also known as Chandrakhanda, Chandika or Rannchandi.

According to Shiva Maha Purana Chandraghanta is the SHAKTI of Lord Shiva in the form of Chandrashekhara

Each aspect of Shiva is accompanied by Shakti and hence they are known as Ardhanarishvara (depicted as half-male and half-female i.e., composite form of Shiva and Parvati).

Parvati in the form of goddess Chandraghanta has ten hands where two hands hold a Trishul (Trident), Gada (Mace), Bow-Arrow, Khadak (Sword), Kamala (Lotus flower), Ghanta (Bell), and Kamandal (Warterpot) while one of her hands remain in blessing posture or abhayamudra. She rides on a tiger or lion representing bravery. This is a terrible aspect and is roaring in anger. This form of Parvati is very different and when provoked she can be malevolent which is named as Chandi or Chamunda devi.

Goddess Chandraghanta is ready to destroy the wicked but for her devotees she is kind and compassionate. Shiva sees the form of Chandraghanta Devi as a great example of beauty, charm and grace.

HAPPY NAVARATRI 2021.
