DAY 4 of NAVARATRI :- Kushmanda Devi

 DAY 4 of NAVARATRI :-

Kushmanda Devi is the fourth aspect of the Hindu goddess Durga and is the fourth Navadurga. Kushmanda name indicates her main role which is

Ku means a little

Ushma means warmth/energy

Anda means cosmic egg.

Hence goddess Kushmanda created the world with her divine smile.

According to Durga Saptashati, Goddess Kushmanda is the one who controls the functioning of the solar system. The core of the Sun is believed to be the residence of the goddess. She is the one who provides the energy to the Sun to shine and emit light.

It is said that when the universe was non-existent and darkness prevailed everywhere, Goddess Kushmanda produced the Cosmic egg bringing light to the universe. Since the goddess is associated with the creation of Brahmanda (universe) and kushmanda (bali of white pumpkin) hence she is popularly know as Maa Kushmanda. She is said to give directions to the Sun God Surya.

Goddess Kushmanda has eight hands and so she is known as Ashtabhuja Devi. Her eight hands holds a trident, sword, hook, mace, bow-arrow and two jars of honey and blood. Her one hand is always on the position of abhayamudra from which she showers blessings to her devotees. Maa Kushmanda rides on a tiger or lion which represents Dharma.

Maa Kushmanda is believed to improve health and bestow wealth and strength. It is believed that all the power to bestow Siddhis and Niddhis are in her Jap Mala.

HAPPY NAVARATRI 2021 🙏
